Connect your Square POS to Rounds
Rounds routes real customer orders directly into your Square dashboard the same way any online order does. No hardware, no menu re-entry, no separate device to watch.
You're not signed in yet
You'll need a Rounds venue-admin account before you can connect Square. That takes ~24h after you submit an onboarding request.

What happens when you click Connect
1
Rounds sends you to Square's authorization page
Standard OAuth 2.0 flow. Square's login screen, not ours. You log in with your Square merchant credentials — Rounds never sees your Square password.
2
Square asks you to grant Rounds these permissions
• Read your menu (so Rounds shows your drinks correctly to customers) • Create orders on your behalf (so Rounds routes real customer orders into your Square dashboard) • Read basic merchant + location info (so we know which of your locations to route to)
3
Square sends you back to Rounds with an access token
Rounds stores the token encrypted, server-side only. Never touches the browser. Rounds uses this token to talk to Square on your behalf going forward.
4
Your menu appears in Rounds
Rounds pulls your Square menu (items + prices + locations). You review it in /venue-admin, optionally add photos + featured badges + brand tagging, and you're live.
5
First order lands within ~24h
A customer sends someone a drink at your venue → Rounds calls Square's Orders API → order shows up in your Square dashboard exactly like a normal online order. Your bartender fulfills. You get paid on your normal Square payout cycle.
🔒 What Rounds does NOT do
• We do not see your Square password. Ever.
• We do not process card payments. Rounds pre-collects from the sender via Stripe.
• We do not touch customer data in your Square account.
• You can disconnect us any time from your Square dashboard → Apps → Rounds.
• Access token is encrypted at rest with per-venue keys; never in the client bundle.
🤖 MCP option (advanced)
If you already run a POS with MCP support (Model Context Protocol), Rounds can consume your inventory + order feed directly instead of via OAuth. Give us the MCP endpoint URL + an access token and we'll wire it up on our end. Email adam@they.bar with your MCP details.
Something not working?
Most connection issues are Square merchant permissions. If you get an "access denied" error, make sure you're logged in as the Square account owner (not a staff-role account) when you click Connect. Email adam@they.bar with the error text and we'll fix it inside an hour.
